Workshop description: What is the connection between the words we use to write, and the portraits we seek to form with them? With looking, seeing, and “writing in the flash” as our focus, this workshop will be of use to writers of any genre. We will take advantage of working alongside a photography workshop to hone your sense of sight and use of language. Workshop meetings will be based on group discussions of contemporary published writing and your own evolving work. We will also address the relationship between scene and story, and the rich potential of describing that which happens just beyond a given image’s frame. Surrounded by a community artists, you’ll have the opportunity to form creative relationships across genres or disciplines that can spark fresh directions in ongoing work.
